Terry Fox and Ford of Canada will forever be linked in history. When Fox was running his Marathon of Hope across the country in 1980, it was a Ford Econoline van that accompanied him every step of the way.

Terry’s brother Darrell, along with friend Doug Alward, drove the van, which served as their home during Terry’s Canada-wide run to raise money for cancer.

“If there is one company that is associated with Terry, it’s Ford,” says Pam Damoff, chairperson of the Terry Fox Run and town councillor for Oakville. “Everyone remembers the van and Terry and Doug driving across Canada.”

Damoff was at the 32nd annual Terry Fox Run in Oakville. Reports say that more than 1,000 people participated in the Oakville run – many of whom work for Ford Canada.

The event was a success, with more than $110,000 raised for cancer research. Our cameras were there for the event – check out all the action in the above video.
