We were in Burlington, Ont., recently for the city’s Green Eco-Awards – an event that featured Ford as a sponsor. The blue oval had a chance to display some of its environmentally friendly vehicles at the event, including the Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and the brand-new Fusion.
We got the chance to speak with Mark van Tol, Ford Canada’s communications manager, at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. He gave us the lowdown on:
- The Focus Electric, which is 100 per cent electric and requires no gas at all. Van Tol says this vehicle sets itself apart from the competition with its superior recharging time of 3-4 hours.
- The C-MAX Energi, a plug-in hybrid that can drive over 30 kilometres in full electric mode. It’s a car that’s great for people who live in the city.
- The Ford Fusion, which is available in different hybrid and gasoline options.
- SoyFoam, a material Ford is using to make car seats. Made from soy beans, the production of this foam drastically reduces the use of oil byproducts and helps manage Ford’s environmental footprint.
