A small computer, an electric motor, and a gear unit. Combining those three elements with Ford engineering and know-how produces a class-exclusive feature that is ready to transform the way crews work and families drive.

It’s with Adaptive Steering Technology, found in the all-new 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty that steering becomes easier, increasing efficiency and providing unmatched vehicle response.

Simply put, the system has the ability to increase or decrease the steering ratio of these vehicles by up to 30%. So when you’re towing heavy loads and navigating through tight spaces with your Super Duty, it makes for more confident drives and a more comfortable experience.

It results in a more efficient drive that demands less physical effort to steer the truck, reducing driver fatigue to create a better experience behind the wheel. The feature is enabled when in tow/haul mode in the Super Duty.

Reducing the amount drivers need to steer when traveling at low speeds can make for a more natural experience, as a full steering wheel revolution can be eliminated from lock to lock. Additionally, the technology increases the angle of the front wheels as the steering wheel turns.

At highway speeds, the adaptive cruise system relaxes the steering, giving you a smoother ride that offers more precision and eliminates fears of overcorrection.

This technology resulted in eight patent awards for Ford with eleven more filed in the United States. All contained smartly within the steering wheel. Simple, smart, and effective. That’s how Ford creates the best ride and driving experience for the toughest jobs and the busiest families. Undisputed.
