On Sunday, June 12, 2016, Oilers’ fans had a chance to say goodbye to the arena that holds so many memories. Traditionally known as the annual Locker Room Sale, this year’s renamed Farewell Season Clearance Sale offered fans the chance to purchase game-used merchandise, and Rexall Place memorabilia, at clearance sale prices.
As the event’s presenting sponsor, and the long-time official automotive partner of the Edmonton Oilers, Ford joined in the festivities, giving the first 200 people to participate in a Drive 4UR Community in support of the Edmonton Oilers’ Community Foundation a limited-edition commemorative puck, made from the arena’s actual plexiglass. In addition to that, each valid test drive raised $20 towards the Foundation.
The commemorative pucks were a highly coveted item, and in just a few hours, every last one was gone, and over $3,600 was donated to the Foundation, supporting health, education and wellness programs for youth in Oil Country.
