Can you imagine trying to get through everyday life hungry, and not knowing where your next meal will come from? The reality is hunger and food security is a real issue in Canada. According to Food Banks Canada more than 800,000 Canadians rely on the support of food banks every month, and children make up almost 40 per cent of that number!
Ford of Canada is passionate about enriching our local communities, and this passion has driven our commitment to work with the WE Movement and WE Schools. For the past three years we’ve worked with our dealerships and schools across the country to raise donations in support of local food banks through our WE Scare Hunger campaign. It’s our way of lending a hand to help end local hunger.
This past October, more than 250 Ford dealerships and 215 schools across Canada took on the WE Scare Hunger challenge to support the communities in which they live and work.
The response was overwhelming, and together with the WE Movement, our dealerships proved that when we join forces together, we can Go Further for our communities!
Many Ford dealerships ran in-dealership campaigns, collecting an average of 2,000 lbs of food, using the creativity and innovation Ford is known for. An even greater number partnered with local schools in their communities to help collect and transport donations to the local food banks.
The results are still coming in, but our collective goal was to raise and donate one million pounds of food across Canada! Stay tuned in the New Year when we announce just how much food we were able to bring in through this incredible partnership and initiative.
